Wellways is a child safe organisation. All workers, students and volunteers:

  • are committed to the safety, happiness, participation and empowerment of all children
  • want children to feel respected and supported
  • have zero tolerance of child abuse
  • take all allegations and safety concerns very seriously and have rigorous systems in place to protect children from abuse
  • are committed to the prevention of child abuse and identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks
  • have robust recruitment practices, policies and procedures, and ensure that staff, students and volunteers are appropriately authorised and skilled to work with children
  • are committed to having mandatory training and education for all staff on child abuse risks
  • are committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and the cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD)
  • committed to ensuring a safe environment for children with a disability
