Wellways Carer Gateway delivers free, local services and support to carers across Queensland and the NSW regions of South West Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains.
Recognising that each caregiving experience is different, we work with local organisations and providers to customise our support to meet the unique needs of carers and their families.
We are proud to partner with The Carers Foundation, an organisation that shares our values and purpose in driving carer reform. That is committed to supporting unpaid carers, the individuals they care for, as well as their families, so that they can live their best lives.
The power of partnerships
Every day at Wellways Carer Gateway, we talk to carers who find it challenging to balance their caregiving responsibilities with work or school and other commitments. In collaboration with The Carers Foundation, we’re able to support these carers with access to much needed respite. It is important to connect carers, especially when they are in similar situations with similar backgrounds. Thanks to our closer partnership, they get time to switch off, relax and have opportunities to learn strategies for self-care, which can be a life-changing experience and skill to learn.
Speaking to the partnership, Ronnie Benbow, Founder of The Carers Foundation says, ‘Recently we’ve had meetings with Wellways Carer Gateway, and it’s amazing because they were able to provide some funding for us to do these programs. We are not government funded, so we need funding, obviously, to keep providing these vital programs for our carers’.
By sponsoring the ‘Unsung Heroes 2024‘ event, Wellways Carer Gateway further supports The Carers Foundation and its mission to help carers thrive.
The partnership between Wellways Carer Gateway and The Carers Foundation provides a vital lifeline for carers to experience ‘some holiday time or respite time away from their role, which is quite taxing on their health mentally and physically,’ as The Carers Foundation Ambassador, Janelle Watt, explains.
Supporting unpaid carers in Australia is crucial, as it positively impacts countless lives. By providing the necessary resources, we help carers manage their responsibilities and improve their overall wellbeing.
