Wellways is proud to, yet again, be at the forefront of Mental Health Reform. We will be delivering 12 of the 50 available traineeships, plus one support co-ordinator role, creating unique career opportunities that offer people from varied vocational and educational backgrounds a pathway to begin their career in community mental health services.
Designed to complement formal learning through a Certificate IV in Mental Health or similar vocational course, the 12 successful Trainees will work in Wellways’ Prevention and Recovery Care program (PARC), a step-up step-down service providing a range of social and clinical intervention supports for people experiencing mental health distress. These placements will support exposure to a wide variety of participants in partnership with local clinical services.
Wellways has proven its ability to deliver on the Victorian Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy, through Wellways Lived Experience Workforce Peer Cadet Program that commenced in 2021. The Cadet program provided structured and supportive paid work-experience for Lived Experience students undertaking a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
Wellways welcomes the Government’s investment in the community mental health workforce. Wellways vision is to build an inclusive community where everyone can imagine and achieve their hopes and potential; and the Earn and Learn Traineeship Program does exactly that.
