About the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local

Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is a service that helps Victorians get mental health and wellbeing support when they need it, where they need it.

Local Services will be the front door to your mental health and wellbeing support, providing free support and services for people who are experiencing mental health concerns, including people experiencing mental health and substance use concerns at the same time. It is free, easy to access and located in your community.

What to expect

We believe anyone needing help should be able to access straight-forward continued support. We are a safe, inclusive, and welcoming service. You can expect your cultural and personal needs to always be respected.

You can expect to be asked ‘how can we help’. We are here to listen. Everyone has their own story, and we want to hear yours. You will guide us in how your care plan is developed and we will support you by co-ordinating and connecting you to the other services you need.

You may wish for your family, carers and friends to be a part of your support and recovery, and we can help you bring them on your journey.

Getting support

You are eligible for support if you:

  • are 26 years of age or older
  • are experiencing psychological distress, mental health challenges or alcohol and other drug concerns
  • need additional support than what their usual doctor offers but who do not need hospital services

Available Supports

We offer one-on-one and group supports and advice through Wellbeing Navigators and Peer Workers who are here to listen and help you explore the services and supports right for you and your situation. Support is available in person at our site or via telehealth.

You will be able to decide what you need on your recovery journey, including:
